Thiotepa is used for (1) Treatment of breast and ovarian cancer, and Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. (2) Treatment of superficial tumors of the bladder. (3) To help control the accumulation of fluid in body cavities that may result from certain cancers. On January 29, 2007, the European Medicines Agency designated thiotepa as an orphan drug. On April 2, 2007, the United States FDA designated thiotepa as a conditioning treatment for use prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
